ATIS_EXAMPLES.mdb -- An older file which is used as a placeholder for the tool when no other database is selected. It is a file from the early days of the tool and none of the information found in this file is currently valid in any standard.
blank.ITS -- An empty file which is used as a starting point when a new table is to be created.
MEDIT_Settings.mdb -- The file which contains all the information regarding control word lists, the structure of the tables, patterns used in ASN and XML, common misspellings and corrections, the names of source standards, and other information needed to make Mini-Edit run.
USER_Settings.mdb -- The file which contains all the information regarding the individual local user, his name and other basic rights information. This is a relatively new table and is expected to grow in content over time.
Required and Created Text Files
(all of these files can be edited with a simple text editor)
ASNstubs.txt -- The name of a file which, if found, will be merged into the bottom of the Source.ASN file produced by the tool. This allows a global include to occur. Note that this include occurs outside the scope of any other module name.
errorLog.xml -- During the process of converting XML, this file may be created if there are any errors found. It is used to hold the error messages when you fire off a browser view. If you have a favorite editor, register it (associate it) to open XML type files, otherwise register your browser to do this (if it is not already registered).
FADD-Draft-XX-XX-XX.xsd -- The file is produced by an XML schema export function, where FADD is replaced by the proper FADD name and XX-XX-XX is replaced by the release version string. This file is typically placed into the ../ITSschemas/ folder unless the user indicates otherwise.
FADD-Draft-XX-XX-XXimports.xml -- The name of a file which, if found, will be merged into the bottom of the XML schema file produced by the tool for that FADD namespace. This allows a FADD specific include to occur.
FADD-Local-Draft-XX-XX-XX.xsd -- The file produced by an XML schema export function of a local table, where FADD is replaced by the proper FADD name and XX-XX-XX is replaced by the release version string. This file is typically placed into the ../ITSschemas/ folder unless the user indicates otherwise.
FADDstubs.txt -- The name of a file which, if found, will be merged into the bottom of FADD namespace area in the Source.ASN file produced by the tool, if the FADD namespace is included. Note that this include occurs inside the scope of the FADD module name. The term FADD would be replaced with the name of the module in question (ATIS, ADUS, IM, TMDD, etc.) as needed. This allows a module specific include to occur.
FILENAME_linkSet.xml -- The name of a file which is produced as an artifact of the linking process by 1st Word. The data present in the file is used by other tools to merge links across different files when needed. It contains the complete set of links to be found in that document (the bookmarks). The name of the file is the name of the created document with _linkSet.xml added to it.
Scrap.asn -- During the process of editing, this file is used to hold the data when you fire off an ASN text editor. If you have a favorite editor, register it (associate it) to open ASN type files, otherwise register Notepad to do this.
Scrap.xml -- During the process of viewing XML, this file is used to hold the data when you fire off a browser view of it. If you have a favorite editor, register it (associate it) to open XML type files, otherwise register your browser to do this (if it is not already registered). Typically your browser will also apply colored highlighting and indenting, making it easier to read.
Source.ASN -- The default name of ASN source files written out by the tool.
XML_OUT.xml -- A file produced by a bulk XML style which exports one or more tables from the tool. Every field in the table is represented by XML tags and content. This is to allow importing the record into other tools which read XML.
Required and Created MS Word Files
(all of these files can be edited with Microsoft Word)
Bulk_Template.doc -- A document used as the starting place for user created reports (the final report is normally called ShortReport.doc if it represents a single record and BulkReport if it represents a table).
BulkReport.doc -- During the process of creating a report from a table (from the bulk template) this file is created and displayed. You should re-name it if you do not want it overwritten when the next report is created.
Generic_Template.doc -- A document used as the starting place for reports and standards created with the 1st Word tool.
Legal.doc -- A document which states the usage term of the tool and disclaims liability resulting from its use by all parties.
Release_notes.doc -- A document which summarizes the changes and improvements present in each release of the tool.
scrap.doc -- A document created to hold a fragment of word style text for further editing.
scrap.rtf -- During the process of translating from rich text format (RTF) entries (which is kept in the access tables) into the format used by MS Word, small bits of translated text are saved into this file. This file is also used to hold the data when you fire off word to edit an entry such as the description text of a record.
ShortReport.doc -- During the process of creating a report from a record (from the bulk template) this file is created and displayed. You should re-name it if you do not want it overwritten when the next report is created.
Web_Template.doc -- During the process of creating a web page from a record, this file is used to hold the styles used in the rendering. You may change in various ways and may want to put an HTML link to the top of you overall web page system in the header or footer sections.
