Rule Selection

The Rule Selection Dialog is used to determine which set of rules will be applied to records when the rule checking is invoked. This Dialog is displayed the first time the user invokes the rule checking. Thereafter it can be invoked and edited with the Rule Set... button from the Error Report Dialog

Rules allow the wholesale modification of the database records and often allow a rapid correction of existing systemic error in the records. Rules will deal with much of the drudgery required for meta-data.  Rules can correct common syntax and spelling errors in your code. A complete set of the rules and their use is given in the
Processing Rules Reference section.

The rules chosen will be applied to the record and the result displayed in the Error Report Dialog. The user can set the database file to be read-only, in which case the rules are applied and changes are noted in the report but no modification of any record is made. This is often the preferred way to test out a sequence of rules. See the
Error Report Dialog for details.
