Installing the Mini-Edit tools for the first time

Installing the program is done by way of a common installer script which will place the program (and various associated supporting files) into your program files and install any needed DLLs, Active-X, or other components.

A note for users with registry or internet protection: The program does not access the Internet at this time, therefore it does not need permission to do so. It does write to the registry (registering itself as the application which reads *.ITS files and providing the icons needed). During operation, if you save sets of macro strings for use in the Spelling editor, these are also saved by way of the registry. As a rule, you may want to disable your protection during the installation process.

There is no need for other programs to be installed, however this is most helpful for the actual use of Mini-Edit; see the section on
Registering Support Tools  for further details.

The most current copy of Mini-Edit can always be obtained at the ITS standards forum in the Mini-Edit sub forum
here.
