File Setting Area

The File Setting area allows the user to select the database file that will be rendered as well as what template to use and what to call the file to be created. It also allows specifying which volume is to be rendered when a multi-volume database is used.

1Database File to Use

Database File to Use Select the database file to render from here. The Browse... button will bring up the normal file open Dialog . You can select *.ITS or *.MDB files to open. The file you select should have all the proper tables which you expect to use in it, if not correct it first with Mini-Edit. When opened, the name of the file will be examined and if a FADD like phrase is part of the name, the overall formatting style pattern for that SDO will be selected by default as well other default values.

2Style File to Use

Style File to Use Select the style sheet file to render from here. The Browse... button will bring up the normal file open Dialog . You can select a *.doc file to open. If you have selected a database file, this may be filed in for you as a default.

3File to Write

File to Write Name the output file to here. This is the name of the file that will be produced when the rendering is completed. If this file exists already, enable the check box to overwrite it. If you have selected a database file, this may be filled in for you as a default.

4Volume Match setting

Volume Match setting The volume matching control is only used with multi-volume publishing databases. If you have such a database, select which single volume you want to render in this run. The volume 00 represents rendering all the volumes into a single document.

Hint: To keep it all straight, the IEEE 1512 process (which uses 5 volumes) re-names each component part of the document with the proper volume number. Thus, the style sheet for volume one is called IEEE_1512_styles_vol01.doc and the like. All the included files of this volume end with _01 to make this clearer. This is a handy way to avoid mix-ups.

5Begin Word (step zero)

Begin Word (step zero) Step Zero, Start MS Word. A mandatory first step, common to all renderings. The remote automation to a copy of MS word is created in this step.
