File dates conflict warning

If you see this warning displayed it almost certainly means you have tried to update the Mini-Edit application and have forgotten to also update the MEdit_Settings.mdb file at the same time.   Information on downloading the most current copy can be found here.

The program simply tests for the dates of both files when first run and presents this nag screen if the date of the MEDIT_setting.mdb file is not later than the application date. The program continues normally after presenting this warning. If this warning bothers you, simply update the MEDIT_setting.mdb file and its new time stamp will be later than that of the application. This can occur in the extremely unusual case of a user maintaining his own MEDIT_setting.mdb file for his needs.

However, 99% of the time you see this, it would be because you have failed to obtain and install the correct MEDIT_setting.mdb file which was released with the Mini-Edit application versions you are using. These are ALWAYS released in matched pairs. Failure to have a current MEDIT_setting.mdb file may result in incorrect control words or translations, because the patterns used in the tool come from that file.
